Sun 1st November, 11am-1pm: Bad Art, Battling Perfectionism

At our next Space for Soul meeting, we're throwing perfectionism out the window and making things just for the sake of making them.
So often we can feel that if we're going to do something, we need to be good at it, or do it well. But that can often prevent us from doing it at all, or even having a go. Space for Soul is all about breaking down barriers, being curious, open-minded and trying out new ideas. In many ways, Space for Soul is inherently creative, inviting us to explore, question and try things without necessarily knowing where they will lead. So what happens if we let go of perfectionism, and what might that mean for our spiritual journeys?
We'll have paints, collage materials and some activities. You can choose to take part in these or do your own thing. The idea is not to focus on the outcome, doing it 'well' or getting it perfect. The point is to have fun, create and see what comes up. If you have your own way of being creative, please do bring your own materials and ideas. Or you can have a go at something new, without needing to do it well.
We’ll have some time to reflect on whether creativity and spirituality are linked, share our relationship with perfectionism and explore how it shows up in spiritual traditions. We’ll also consider whether approaching creativity and our spirituality without perfectionism might open up a world of possibilities.
This will be an active, inclusive and hopefully fun session where we’ll collectively reflect on our creative and spiritual journeys, our relationship with perfectionism, and what happens when we give ourselves permission create imperfectly.
