Join us at our fortnightly informal get-togethers which we call Soulspace - an opportunity for us to talk, share, explore, reflect and simply be together for a while. You don’t have to be a member of Spaceforsoul or to be involved in our community in any other way to come along. You don't have to be a Christian to join us either.  Whatever your spirituality, you will be very welcome.

This is a space in which there are no ‘right’ answers and which is free from unhelpful demands, expectations, restrictive structures or rules. It is not concerned with converting each other to a particular way of thinking about or living out our spirituality and it reflects a fundamental trust in our inner resources for change and growth.

It is a space which gives the soul room to breathe. It encourages a creative searching for the answers to life’s deepest questions and resources us in finding our own path to the Divine. It also seeks to enable us to deepen our sense of connectedness with our innermost self, with others and with the world around us. In the philosopher, Henry David Thoreau’s words, it is a space which helps us explore what it means to to ‘live deep’.

Creating soul space

Everyone’s spirituality is unique and each of us needs, therefore, to find our own paths to the Divine. There are many different spiritual pathways – for example, through the body, through art or music, through nature, through reflection, through meditation or contemplation, through soul friendship, through social action – and so Soulspace seeks to create different kinds of sacred spaces for different people. Every Sunday that we spend together is different and is shaped by the individual needs and interests of the group. Each meeting offers us the opportunity to move freely in and out of a number of different spaces:

Space to reflect  where we spend time thinking about and reflecting on the Divine together, exploring sacred texts and other writings, wrestling with questions and doubts, discussing particular questions or topics or exploring our reactions to music, poetry, books or films that have particularly spoken to us

Quiet Space where we spend time retreating from the world together, entering into silence together,  being meditative or contemplative and nurturing and refreshing our souls through simply being

Creative space where we spend time exploring and expressing our spirituality or connecting with our deeper self and with the Divine through art, music, dance, writing and the imagination

Natural space where we spend time simply breathing in the beauty of the natural world, walking and talking together in beautiful places that nurture the soul and refresh the spirit.

Space for action where we spend time thinking about how we live out our spirituality in the world, about how we reach out to others, work for peace and justice , challenge the status quo and make a difference

Space to connect where we spend time meeting and talking with others, exploring and sharing our spiritual journeys together, and accompanying each other on our search for the Divine
